A place that tells a story

A HOME TRANSFORMED WITH LOVE

Sogni di Paglia was born in a house that has always embodied the spirit of hospitality.
Laura and Edoardo lived here, Jessica’s grandparents who now run the country house. Cheerful and generous, they spent their days working with their chickens and their weekends dancing liscio.
Renovating their home and turning it into a Country House was a way to breathe new life into those spaces and carry on their spirit of lightness, care and sharing.
Today Sogni di Paglia is a project that weaves memory and vision: an idea of simple, respectful hospitality rooted in the nature of the Langhe.

It all started here

We began this journey with a clear idea: honouring our family’s memory while at the same time embracing bio‑architecture. We teamed up with a design studio that believed in our dreams from the very first sketch.

When we opened the building site, I set myself a simple rule: use genuine materials and only pair them with technology that truly improves everyday life. The walls breathe thanks to a lime plaster, the floors smell of locally worked timber and on the south side of the roof photovoltaic panels sit flush and gleam.

For comfort we chose heat‑pump splits: they cool the rooms in minutes during summer and spread a soft warmth in winter while using very little energy. And because water is a precious gift, rainwater is collected in an underground tank and irrigates the vegetable garden and flowers without wasting a single drop.

Straw, our choice

Beneath the plaster, a 38 centimetre cloak of compressed straw wraps around the entire structure. It is light, carbon‑negative and surprisingly high‑performing: in summer it keeps the heat out, in winter it holds warmth in and smooths temperature peaks, reducing the use of air‑conditioning. Straw naturally absorbs and releases moisture, is fully recyclable and comes from farms just a few kilometres away. We like to think it is the first embrace the house offers to anyone who enters.

If you dream of a stay in a house that embraces both earth and future, you are in the right place.
We are happy to share with you everything that makes Sogni di Paglia an example of sustainable hospitality.

We will show you how the straw roof, the clean energy of the solar panels and the harvesting of rainwater work together to reduce environmental impact and improve everyday well‑being.

And if you wish, we will also tell you about our small gestures: from composting in the garden to choosing biodegradable products.
Because sustainability here is something you live. And share.

A STRAW ROOF, MANY WAYS TO REST

choose the one that’s right for you

Each room has a name, a story and a few details from the past. We chose modern yet cosy furnishings, mixing them with family objects. The grandparents’ home is still here, in a lamp, an armchair, a trunk. Three rooms and one apartment await those looking for a welcoming, well‑tended and authentic place.
